Breast Cancer Cure’s first collab with Bendon – which will help fund next generation breast cancer research – has been revealed!
It will also make its public runway debut at New Zealand Fashion Week as part of the Fashion for a Cure show on 21 August.
If you can’t make it to the show at Auckland’s Shed 10, here’s a peek at the new collection which ranges from lounge around the home comfy chic to the sweetest cheeky little cami and shorts set with gorgeous lace.
Anna Johnson, CEO and co-owner of Bendon says the partnership felt like a natural extension of what Bendon has always stood for – real support and real women. The evidence of that is in Bendon’s name which has long been associated with support.
Did you know that the original founders called the brand Bendon because they wanted to make lingerie that would “bend on” on a woman’s body and be comfortable.
Balancing comfort, quality and timeless style was central to the design process says Bendon’s general manager of merchandise, Kirsty McKeown.
“Every detail had to feel wearable beyond the campaign moment. We want women to buy it because they love it. Wear it because it feels good, and know that by doing so they are supporting something much bigger.”
Johnson says choosing sleepwear for the collaboration felt like the right expression of the partnership.
“Sleepwear is there in the quiet moments, the recovery moments, the morning moments and the end-of-day moments,” she says. “For a cause as deeply personal as breast cancer research, we wanted the product to feel warm, beautiful and genuinely useful.”
Breast Cancer Cure CEO Sonja de Mari says the partnership is about far more than fundraising – though each purchase will help fund research.
She believes one of the collections greatest strengths is that it stands on its own as a desirable fashion range – everything is so well considered – and we agree one-hundred per-cent!
There’s even a little embroidered heart motif on most pieces, and they’ve also released a pair of cosy slippers to complete the collection.
Fabrics used include premium 100 per cent cotton toweling, cotton blends, soft bamboo viscose, satin and cotton fleece.

Bendon has also just been approved by New Zealand Health to begin offering prosthesis fitting for people that have had surgery.
