Lucire has been named by Global Elite Awards as its 2025 winner for ‘Leading luxury fashion and lifestyle magazine’.

The Award recognises Lucire “as the leader in their field for their outstanding commitment to excellence and visionary impact”.

It’s a great accolade and we wanted to give our friends over at Lucire – including founder / publisher Jack Yan and fashion and beauty editor Sopheak Seng – a big shout out.

Winners this year include Stella McCartney, Six Senses Ibiza, Swarovski, the Ritz–Carlton, fragrance brand Xerjoff, Michelin-starred Chinese restaurant group Hakkasan, boutique residential business Alexander Millett, and the Arula Chalets.

Candidates are put through a multi-phase vetting process which includes in-depth brand audits, market performance analysis, leadership profiles, reputation assessment, and alignment with core values such as quality, sustainability, impact and vision. Global Elite Awards’ panels of industry leaders and analysts have evaluated countless companies internationally.

Founded in 1997 in Wellington by Jack Yan, Lucire was the first fashion magazine to extend from a web edition into print.

Founder / publisher Jack Yan says he wouldn’t have expected to be in such illustrious company back in 1997 when Lucire was New Zealand’s first online commercial fashion magazine.

He says the title could not have achieved its success without adopting an export-first model from the start, something he credits to his late father, John Yan, who helped him work on the business.

“Dad was a big believer in exporting, our balance of trade, balance of payments and foreign exchange, and you can see this in everything we’ve done,” says Yan.

Lucire’s international print editions include the forthcoming Lucire: the Edition in the US, while it has a publishing history in New Zealand, Romania, Thailand, Qatar, Bahrain, the US, and, nearly equalling the home market for the number of issues, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Global Elite Awards has said that Lucire already qualifies as a nominee for the 2026 competition.
