Meet the makers and watch them work in their studios on Auckland’s North Shore and Waitākere this November.
Open Studios Kaipātiki art trail is happening on Auckland’s North Shore on November 15 and 16 and Waitākere November 22 and 23.
It’s free and invites art lovers, families, and the simply curious to step inside the private studios of local artists, makers, and designers.

Quilted’s Rebecca Owen.
Award winning quilter and textile artist Rebecca Owen of Quilted is on Word on Fashion’s list. The passionate textile artist is known for her intricate designs and expressive use of colour and texture.
Every piece Owen creates is a reflection of life around us and a celebration of the textile arts and the endless possibilities of creating with cloth.

Meanwhile Open Studios Waitākere is back and happening a week later on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.
Now in its 11th year, the event will see more than 80 artists across 50+ studios open their doors to the public for a weekend of creativity, connection, and community spirit.
From Titirangi to Piha, Oratia to Glen Eden, visitors can step inside the workspaces of painters, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers, photographers, and designers – meeting the makers and seeing art in action.
An artist we wanted to spotlight is Waitākere jewellery maker Julia Marin, whose work is inspired by architecture, the natural world and simple things.
Marin works with sterling silver, gold and natural gemstones and is a fan of Open Studios because it allows people to see the creative process up close and appreciate the craft behind each piece.
