Bridging the gap between historical craftsmanship and contemporary trends, New Zealand Fashion Museum pop-up exhibition, KNIT: original fashion created from yarn, is currently showcasing the enduring appeal of knitting, crochet, macrame, and weaving in today’s world.
Based in Shop 17, Strand Arcade, 227 Queen St, Auckland Central from August 8 to 31, 2025, KNIT is more than an exhibition. It’s a community-driven initiative that invites participation.
The exhibition and activations are also strategically timed to coincide with New Zealand Fashion Week, Kahuria. Fashion illustrations, photographs, and patterns that sparked the imaginations of earlier makers, displayed alongside contemporary garments, materials, and equipment that showcase the craft’s modern resurgence.
